Sunnyvale High School (California)
Sunnyvale High School was the second public high school in the city of Sunnyvale, California. Opened in January 1956 as part of the Fremont Union High School District, it served the community until being closed in 1981.〔Garvin Thomas, ("Sunnyvale H.S. Band Reunites After 31 Years: Sunnyvale High School was closed in 1981, silencing a band that had gained a glowing reputation." ) NBC Bay Area (KNTV), August 29, 2012.〕〔(History ), Fremont Union High School District (accessed 2013-3-19).〕 In a nod to the nearby NAS Moffett Field, SHS adopted the Jets as its school mascot. Since 1991, the former SHS campus at 562 N. Britton Ave. has been home to The King's Academy, a Christian middle/high school.
Among Sunnyvale High's alumni is 1976 Olympic 4 x 400 meters relay gold medalist Benny Brown.
